Contrary to rumours heard last week, the Department of Home Affairs confirms that there has been no change to the start date of March 1st 2019 for all export air cargo to be examined at a piece level, or originate from a Known Consignor prior to export from Australia. The Department has advised they will process Known Consignor applications within 90 days, but with the upcoming year end holiday season fast approaching this commitment may not be met. Customers who wish to ensure that their cargo does not need to be screened at a piece level prior to export should consider applying for Known Consignor status at the earliest opportunity.
