SOLAS VGM changes now less than 2 weeks away

With less than 2 weeks to go until the implementation of the new global SOLAS VGM rules, exporters should be aware that all Australian Stevedores will be enforcing the new VGM rules on all export containers as of 22nd June. This is to ensure that all containers held at terminal, awaiting export, are captured prior to the July 1st commencement date. Local Port disruptions on the horizon

Late on Tuesday night (April 12th) the Maritime Union of Australia issued a notice of intent to take Protected Industrial Action lasting 48 hours at the Patrick East Swanson terminal in Melbourne beginning on Thursday April 21st at 07.00, ending at 07.00 on Saturday April 23rd. This latest action is in addition to the protected action being taken at the Sydney Autostrad Terminal this week, and the Brisbane Autostrad Terminal next week. With the ongoing industrial action by the CPSU, affecting the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, it would seem we may be in for some turbulence in the coming weeks in the International Trade arena.
